Design consultancy for The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s American Wing, New York, developed in collaboration with Small Design Firm and Timon Botez. We included an information system containing cultural and historic context about the gallery and divided the data in two categories: research and recommendations.
Our reference points for the aesthetics were the colours and surface textures present in the wing, including the sandy stone of the courtyard. Once we chose a colour palette and an adequate typeface, we set to construct a consistent system for the wall panels, captions, floor plans and pictograms. The objective was fulfill the multiple needs of both curators and visitors.
