Luis Camnitzer (Uruguay, 1937) is formally related to conceptual art. The characteristic of his work is his invitation to reflect, to analyze and to debate on the systems of power. Luis Camnitzer: Art in response embodies a conceptual discussion between contemporary art and the cultural tradition of European art in the collection of the Ponce Art Museum.
The invitation card was designed inspired in the installations presented by Camnitzer at the Museum. This invitation was delivered jointly with the invitation to another parallel opening, Emilio Sanchez: Light, line and shadow. The color palette of these pieces is a combination of decisions: light green from Sanchez piece: Estela’s Place, and dark blue and cyan is Camnitzer’s personal choice.
